About Us

The Vermont State Housing Authority (VSHA) is a partnership of 90+ entities in the State of Vermont. This partnership streamlines the application process for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and other affordable housing properties managed by housing authorities.

The VSHA utilizes RevoList, an application ranking and synchronization software system, which allows applicants to apply for and manage their applications through a single, centralized access point using an AffordableHousing.com Renter account.

Please note that each participating PHA selects participants for their housing programs based on their local policies. The VSHA launched the Affordable Housing Hub in September 2024 and advises applicants to check the status of their application at least once a year.

Mission Statement

The Vermont State Housing Authority has been in the business of providing critical housing assistance in Vermont for more than 50 years.

Our mission is, “to ensure that quality affordable housing opportunities are available to Vermonters statewide”. And we believe that we can accomplish this mission through our vision to “continually adapt to evolving needs, steadily increase the supply of affordable housing in partnership with others, lead in housing policy, and attract and retain a skilled workforce”.

Established in 1968, VSHA has the distinction of being the first statewide housing authority in the nation.  Throughout our history, we have aggressively and compassionately pursued opportunities to provide and make housing more accessible and affordable for Vermonters.  Today, we serve more than 8,500 families and are active in almost every community within the state.

Our affordable housing initiatives reach many Vermonters, from senior citizens, young families, those who are homeless and those with special needs to residents of mobile home parks. We invite you to travel through our website and see the many housing opportunities and services we provide.
